Owen has been an instructor with JAM since 2013, and the director of JAM since 2018. Owen teaches banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and helps out with group jam and ensemble classes.

Bruce Threlkeld is a career musician who has over four decades of experience as a teacher and performer. He teaches Guitar and 3-finger style Bluegrass Banjo. Bruce brings a multi-instrumentalist perspective to his classes, giving students a comprehensive understanding of what it is to be technically proficient, as well as how to become an ensemble player.
Tim has been playing fiddle for 32 years. A Western North Carolina native, Tim has played in many bands and has taught in several different programs throughout the years. He is married and the father of three. Tim teaches Fiddle and Group Jam Classes.
Haden Rhea, a native North Carolinian, plays fiddle, banjo, and guitar, and loves teaching and learning from others. Haden has been a part of the JAM program for over a decade, starting as a student. She has been teaching fiddle classes with Transylvania County JAM for almost three years. Outside of music, Haden enjoys reading, rock climbing, and spending time with family.

Richard is a retired teacher who has played traditional music for many years. Richard has played in Old Time, Bluegrass and Roots bands through the years. Richard works with the JAM Ensemble, and teaches fiddle, guitar, mandolin and upright bass.

John McGinnis
John McGinnis is retired and “living the dream” with his wife in Brevard. A major part of that dream is his involvement as a board member and volunteer with the Transylvania JAM program. As John puts it, “to share my love of music with the kids and teachers in this program is pure joy.
